Q & A

Answering some questions that I've received recently about journaling...

Dear Kindred Spirit,

The other day on Instagram, I asked in my stories: For those who don’t journal, WHAT do you do with your thoughts?! Are they just rolling around loose in your head?? Of course, my argument is that journaling is an incredible way to sort out and process your thoughts, to document the inspiration, to learn and grow, etc!
In my DM’s I received some great questions about journaling that I thought would be great to address for everyone… after I journaled about them, of course.

  • How do you decide what to write?

  • How long does it take?

  • If you only have 5 minutes to journal, but 30 minutes of thoughts, what happens to the unwritten thoughts?

In the video above, I addressed these first few questions. What do you think of my response? What would you add? (comment below)

Next time, I’ll address some more of these questions:

  • Have hand cramps ever stopped you from journaling?

  • What do you do with the things you wrote down?

  • If you go back and read, how do you have the time to keep up the everything you journaled previously?

  • How do you find stuff from before if you can’t press ctrl F to search?

What questions would you like to add?

Please share in the comments below!

As I shared in the video above, if you want some guidance on WHAT to journal about, check out the post that I shared on Jan 1st - the first issue of The Kindred Journal. Every month there will be a new issue with video content, journal prompts and inspiration. I almost literally hold your hand through your journaling practice. (which is my favorite thing to do!)

Thank you for being here!

I tell ya, more and more, I am feeling dissatisfied with Instagram. It’s changed a lot over the past few years. I’m craving slower, more meaningful content (vs the fast-paced entertainment that instagram is offering lately). I’ve been trying to actively lean into this Substack space. I’ve found some lovely accounts to follow and I’m trying to engage more. It’s different and takes some getting used to, but it feels worth it.

All that to say, I’ll be here more and over there less. And I am so glad you’re here with me. If Substack is new to you as a social platform, we can learn together!

Have a beautiful day. Stay warm and cozy!

Melissa
