Dear Kindred Spirit,
Last week, I shared with you my thoughts about the importance of hope: that we can shape our present and our future with our hopes. This weekend, I sat with our weekly journal prompts. (it was a busy week… it took me until Saturday to get to them, but wow, were they a treat!)
Using Langston Hughes’ poem I Dream a World as inspiration, we were invited to daydream and write our own essay/poem finishing the sentence “I dream a world….”
Here’s mine:
I dream a world dripping in green. The plants and animals have taken back their rightful place alongside us.
I hear the rhythms and taste the flavors of countless cultures shinning - ALL of us freely expressing ourselves as we celebrate the uniqueness in us all. I dream of a world united, not by sameness and conformity, but by collaboration and creativity. Our gifts poured out for the benefit of all.
I dream a world of enoughness- where greed, fear, and scarcity have dissipated in the winds of Love. A world free. A world of plenty. I dream a world where Abundance reigns. Wars and oppression have no use here. Only cooperation. Only creativity. Only peace. Only love.
My friend, I have this vision in my mind - sometimes up front, sometimes in the background, but always there. It is there when I ask the Spirit, “How shall I live?” The response I often sense: Pay attention… notice where you see glimpses of THIS VISION and nurture it!
I received an email the other day that affirmed my way of dreaming.
[…] thank you for helping me learn the value of both pausing to notice beauty and allowing ourselves to sink into it when we can. You don't need me to tell you how brutal this life and world can be- developing a practice of noticing beauty and the resilience of life all around me has brought me such peace and I can't thank you enough for pointing me to good.
After my journaling, I treated myself to a collage-moment. I flipped through a few magazines and pulled images that FELT like my vision.
In this dream world, what would your work be? Where would you live? What would your life be like if everyone’s needs were met? Tell us in the comments below!
Reminder: You are always welcome to join me and my friends as we quietly journal together on Monday mornings. Read more here. It’s free!

I love this Melissa ❤️ I love how God said that you can see glimpses of this. I think of Eden, I think where would God have taken us beyond the fall? But how originally we were one and we had god in our midst. Lacking nothing and in the presence of His love. I often think my pull to nature comes from that original call back to Eden. Xx thank you for sharing this ! I love collage so much ! You've inspired me 🌈🌅💕
